This project was initiated by the students when they noticed that their neightbouring estate, Dakota Crescent is pretty old and the elderly residents needed help. |

The principal, Mrs Chua, was very supportive of this project as she noted that the students have moved from the receiving stage to the giving stage as 52% of the students are on financial assistance.
“Home-Fix conducted painting workshops for the Northlight students before they went to repaint the elderly residents’ homes”
We also sponsored the paints and painting equipments as well as the energy saving bulbs for this service learning project. The students cleaned and repainted the residents’ home. Energy saving bulbs and water saving thimbles were also installed to reduce the residents’ water and electrical bills.
One of the elderly residents told the students, “Today you light up my house, tomorrow, someone will light up your life.” This project helped boost the students' self esteen and the students learnt that when they work as a team,they can make a difference to their community.
